Appsys ProAudio ADAT Splitter

The Appsys ProAudio ADS-8 is an active ADAT/TOSLINK splitter and repeater designed to distribute a single optical audio signal to two outputs without degradation. Unlike passive splitters that can weaken the signal by halving the light intensity, the ADS-8 actively converts the optical input into an electrical signal, then retransmits it at full strength to both outputs. This approach ensures reliable, lossless, and bit-transparent splitting, maintaining the integrity of high-speed data transmissions.

In addition to splitting, the ADS-8 functions as a signal repeater, effectively doubling the typical transmission distance of optical connections. Standard TOSLINK cables are limited to 5"10 meters; with the ADS-8, this range extends to 10"20 meters, depending on the equipment used. The device introduces near-zero latency (less than 1 microsecond), making it suitable for time-sensitive audio applications.

The ADS-8 is compatible with various audio formats transmitted over TOSLINK, including ADAT, S/PDIF, Dolby Digital 5.1, and other protocols up to a 96 kHz sample rate or 15 Mbit data rate. Its active design overcomes the limitations of passive splitters, ensuring robust performance in professional audio setups.
