The Cranborne Audio N8 is a versatile audio distribution hub designed for studios and live sound setups. It simplifies audio routing by using C.A.S.T. (Cat 5 Analogue Snake Transport), which transmits balanced analogue audio over standard shielded network cables. This significantly reduces the clutter of traditional XLR cables while maintaining high audio fidelity. The N8 features four C.A.S.T. inputs, each carrying four channels (two inputs and two outputs), making it ideal for integrating C.A.S.T.-enabled devices such as mic preamps and headphone amps. Additionally, the DB25 connectors allow seamless connectivity with audio interfaces, mixers, and other studio gear.
The N8 is particularly useful for studios looking to streamline their setup while maintaining flexibility in routing signals. It can send and receive signals between multiple devices, allowing for distributed monitoring and recording configurations. With its ability to pass 48V phantom power from connected equipment, the N8 supports condenser microphones and DI boxes through its C.A.S.T. system. For optimal performance over long distances, shielded Cat 7 cables are recommended.
