The Sonifex AVN-GMCS is a precision time protocol (PTP) grandmaster clock designed for Audio-over-IP (AoIP) applications, ensuring sub-microsecond synchronization across networked audio devices. It supports multiple PTP profiles, including Default (RAVENNA), Media (AES67), and AES-R16-2016 (SMPTE-ST 2059-2 & AES67 compatible), with an option for custom profile configurations. The unit achieves a PTPv2 time-stamping resolution of 8 nanoseconds, utilizing a GPS receiver, phase-locked loop (PLL), and a temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) accurate to 1 part per million, equating to a worst-case scenario of 1 second gain or loss every 11.5 days. For enhanced accuracy, an optional oven-controlled crystal oscillator (OCXO) model, the AVN-GMCOS, offers precision up to 0.1 parts per million. Configuration is accessible via front-panel controls or a responsive web interface compatible with smartphones and tablets. The AVN-GMCS provides various clock outputs, including AES-3id, word clock, and variable pulse per second (PPS), supporting word clock frequencies of 32, 44.1, 48, 96, 176.4, and 192 kHz. It features dual power supply inputs"IEC mains and 12V DC"for redundancy, with front-panel LEDs indicating synchronization status, GPS lock, and power supply presence. A real-time clock maintains accurate date and time even after power cycles without GPS access. The unit can display UTC or local time, accommodating daylight saving adjustments.
